Implementing Genetic Counseling and

Genetic testing for inherited cancer predisposition syndromes is an evolving field, which includes a growing number of causative genes. Meet our Presenters:

Laura Andolina is the Director of Clinical Services for MyGeneTeam. Laura received her Bachelor's degree in Biology from SUNY Geneseo in 2001 and her Master's degree in Genetic Counseling from the University of Pittsburgh in 2005. Prior to joining MyGeneTeam, Laura worked as a genetic counselor at Women and Children's Hospital of Buffalo, where she provided services to prenatal, pediatric and adult patients, and held a faculty position at the SUNY Buffalo School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. She has also worked as a laboratory customer service genetic counselor, presented her research at professional meetings and taught clinical genetics to genetic counseling students, medical students, physicians and other healthcare providers throughout their training.

Sonia Nanda is board certified through both the American Board of Genetic Counseling and the Canadian Association of Genetic Counselors. She received her Masters of Science in Genetic Counseling from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Sonia dedicated her first 12 years as a genetic counselor to working directly with both pediatric and adult patients and multi-disciplinary oncology providers as a clinical cancer genetic counselor. Additionally, she was involved with a number of research studies and held an appointment at the University of Toronto where she was involved with the genetic counselling program as a clinical supervisor for the genetic counseling students. Utilizing this expertise, Sonia has spent the last four and a half years working on behalf of GeneDx/GenPath, helping healthcare providers determine hereditary cancer testing strategies, test result interpretation and discussing available management guidelines.
